The Power of Social Media lies in the hands of You and Your Audience.

My self and thousands of other internet marketers have no idea about what social media really is and more importantly what the REAL impact social media is having or will have on your business.

All I know is that if you want to succeed online today, YOU HAVE TO learn about social media.

What is Social Media? The basic definition:  Social Media are websites and internet tools allowing the  sharing and discussing of user generated content.

My definition:  Its about people BEING REAL & HONEST with people, its about expressing what you really think.

HERE IS A WAKE UP CALL!

Social media sites are growing 10 to 100 times faster than traditional media sites.

Facebook is averaging 250,000 new users a day.  A DAY!  Does that not blow your mind? As Perry Belcher says “Everyday, a small sized city signs up for facebook”.  And it only took facebook 19 months to gain 140 million users!

Twitter - The internet’s leading micro-blogging tool just surpassed 50 million users who express themselves with 140 characters or less.  Think about it.  Whats the number one question you ask your friends when you greet them for the day? “Hey, whats up?  What are you doing?”  Its viral by its very nature of asking one simple question.

Youtube – has 75 million videos with 150,000 more being added everyday. Its not just about videos, its about the personal relationships that you can form with your viewers and subscribers.  Why?  Because you can see, hear and engage.  Its not a one way medium.  Its all about 2 way communication expressing personal opinions.

Blogs – There are over 12 million active blogs on the internet with over 5 billion readers today.  Thats more than all readers of books, newspapers and magazines.  Does that not tell you that people just want to connect with people?  Its not about what a company says about its product or service that makes a difference anymore, its what people say and think that really counts.

The 18-34 year old internet user today spends approximately 4 times more time on social media sites then on TV, radio and Newspapers COMBINED.

Perry Belcher – 7 Secrets of Social Media

Social media is not a fly by night phenomena.  It will expand into areas we can not even imagine yet.  As a kid growing up I always thought it would be so cool to be able to say something and have everyone in the world hear me.  Well that time is here and now.
